Dr. Floyd L. Moreland Carousel at Casino Pier
Mirrored Jewels and a Wooden (Replacement) Tail
  |
© Janet Swearingen
Date of picture: July 2004
This Looff stander has mirrored jewels on its trappings, typical of a style used in the late 1890s to early 1900s. This makes it older than the carousel itself and perhaps one of the two oldest animals on the platform. The wooden tail is clearly not original to this figure. No doubt it originally had a hair tail.
