This outside row horse was carved by Charles Carmel. Carmel liked to carve realistic horses whose trappings were highly ornate and fancy.
In several ways, this figure is characteristic of Carmel's best work. The fish scale blanket is one of his trademarks. Carmel's horses are often slender with appealing expressions and dramatic manes.
