NYC selects operator for Forest Park carousel

New York Carousel Entertainment has been selected to operate the Forest Park carousel in Queens. It will also be in charge of the Flushing Meadows carousel.

B & B Carousell News

The Coney Island History Project is having an Open House May 5 and 6 featuring the first restored horse from the B & B Carousell. They are also sponsoring a contest to name the horse.

The Carousell is also in the running for a grant from the Partners in Preservation.

Conneaut Lake Park becomes National Register Historic District

Conneaut Lake Park has met the eligibility status for National Register Historic District by the Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission (PHMC). Conneaut Lake Park is in its 120th year, and is tied for 10th oldest operating amusement park in the nation.

The eligibility status allowed the Park to apply for a $25,000 grant (via the Conneaut Lake Institute) for the Blue Streak through the PHMC's Keystone Historic Preservation Grant Program. Recipients will be named in 5 or 6 months.

A New Carousel for theGreater Los Angeles Zoo Association

The Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association (GLAZA) has opened a brand new one-of-a-kind carousel in October on Zoo grounds. The Tom Mankiewicz Conservation Carousel, featuring 66 artisan-crafted figures as diverse as a komodo dragon, poison dart frog, Sumatran tiger and a dung beetle chariot, is set apart by the quality of its exceptional craftsmanship, vibrant color, sense of fun and lively depictions of endangered wildlife and California flora and fauna. It was built for GLAZA by Carousel Works. Revenue from riders funds programs at the Zoo.
